Basketball Recap: Turpin Cardinals vs. Laverne Tigers
There's no place like home for the Turpin Cardinals, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They took down Laverne 59-42 on Friday. This was payback for Turpin, who suffered a 55-46 loss the last time these two teams met.
Bryson Parker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Turpin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhett Huffman, who scored 16 points.
Turpin has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Laverne, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Turpin will square off against the Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Boise City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Cardinals are ranked 171st). As for Laverne, they will head out on the road to square off against the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
