Volleyball Game Preview: Schaumburg Saxons vs. Fenton Bison

The Schaumburg Saxons will take on the Fenton Bison at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Fenton will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Schaumburg extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Saxons came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Palatine. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saxons have posted against the Pirates since April 4, 2023.

Schaumburg was actually outscored in aggregate across those three sets (72-71), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 20-25, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Fenton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Zion-Benton on Thursday.

Fenton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-18.

Fenton's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-16. As for Schaumburg, their win bumped their record up to 16-12.

Schaumburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Fenton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 2-0. Do the Saxons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
