Recap: Lanier Christian Academy Lightning vs. Young Americans Christian Eagles
The Lanier Christian Academy Lightning can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They blew past Young Americans Christian 55-34. Winning may never get old, but Lanier Christian Academy sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Leading Lanier Christian Academy to victory were Ellie Roberts and Jia Thapar. Roberts scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Thapar scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Roberts scored 15 or more points. Emma Flowers was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists and two steals.
Despite the defeat, Young Americans Christian saw an underclassman step up: Jasmine Mingo scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Shelby Housworth, who scored eight points.
Lanier Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Young Americans Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lanier Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Fideles Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. Young Americans Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Killian Hill Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 16th. Killian Hill Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 13 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
