Softball Recap: Rome Free Academy Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Rome Free Academy won the last time they faced Proctor and things went their way on Thursday too. The Black Knights put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 20-2 win. The Black Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 12 runs or more this season.

Rome Free Academy got a massive performance out of Makayla Howard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Howard a new career-high. Kenidee Campbell was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Rome Free Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive contests.

Rome Free Academy's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Proctor, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rome Free Academy will venture away from home to square off against Central Square at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Proctor, they will head out to face off against Oneida at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
