Baseball Recap: University Beats St. Margaret's for Their Third Straight Victory

University won against St. Margaret last Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. University's pitcher stepped up to hand St. Margaret's a 9-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on three straight.

Andrew Shean was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because University is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Shean was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, David Wu was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Luke Emrich, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

University's record now sits at 6-3. As for St. Margaret's, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. University is set to square off against their familiar foe Irvine at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (University 2.7, Irvine 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, St. Margaret's will face off against rival Portola at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
