Basketball Recap: North Marion Piles Up the Points Against Belleview

North Marion won the last time they faced Belleview and things went their way on Tuesday too. The North Marion Colts simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Belleview Rattlers 60-30. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 26 points or more this season.

North Marion was led to victory by Coy Sizemore and Lamont Sweeting JR. Sizemore went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points, while Sweeting JR went 6 of 7 en route to 18 points and five boards. That's the most points Sweeting JR has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jerdarrius Jackson, who posted seven points along with five assists and three steals.

North Marion was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belleview only posted four assists.

Despite the defeat, Belleview saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ches Simmons scored ten points. Malik Cauthen was another key player, putting up six points.

North Marion's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. As for Belleview, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

North Marion didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-61 loss against Hawthorne on the 23rd. As for Belleview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-50 defeat against Crystal River on the 23rd.
