Volleyball Recap: Louisburg Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Louisburg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Falls Lake Firebirds on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2022.

Louisburg was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-12, 25-15.

Kendall Gleason paced Louisburg's offense, picking up six kills. Gleason got some help from Kasi Harrison and her 15 assists. Finally, Gleason was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Falls Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tess DeZurik, who had 15 digs and six kills. That's the most digs DeZurik has posted since back in September of 2024. Maggie Penn was another key player, getting 25 digs and three assists.

Coming up, Louisburg will head out on the road to challenge South Granville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Falls Lake, they will challenge Carrboro at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
