Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Pioneers vs. Buffalo Bison

The Wayne Pioneers will head out on the road to square off against the Buffalo Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wayne will be strutting in after a win while Buffalo will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Wayne turned things around against Lincoln County on Friday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 71-45 victory. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Buffalo was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 49-45 to St. Joseph Central. The Bison haven't had much luck with the Irish recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Buffalo's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Wayne, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Everything came up roses for Wayne against Buffalo when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 77-44 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Buffalo's Wesley Mallett, who shot 47% from the field on his way to 22 points and seven boards.
