Softball Game Preview: S & S Consolidated Rams vs. Howe Bulldogs

S & S Consolidated is 2-7 against Howe since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. S & S Consolidated will take on Howe at 6:00 p.m. S & S Consolidated will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Howe's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: S & S Consolidated hadn't allowed a single run the last six times they've hit the field. S & S Consolidated walked away with a 5-0 win over Gunter on Friday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Howe and Pottsboro meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Howe fell just short of Pottsboro by a score of 5-3.

Riley McCollum spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mya Burt was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

S & S Consolidated's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Howe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

S & S Consolidated came out on top in a nail-biter against Howe in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does S & S Consolidated have another victory up their sleeve, or will Howe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
