Softball Recap: Desert Vista Extends Winning Streak to Four

Desert Vista won the last time they faced Mountain View and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Thunder were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Toros. Considering the Thunder have won 16 matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Mckenzie Leitgen, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kristina Mendoza, who scored three runs and stole a base.

Leitgen wasn't the only one making solid contact: Desert Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The Thunder are a perfect 15-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win was the fourth in a row for Desert Vista, bringing their record up to 19-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-8.

Looking ahead, Desert Vista will face off against Hamilton at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Thunder 2.7, the Huskies 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Mountain View, they will square off against Liberty at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Toros are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
