Basketball Game Preview: Sandwich Indians vs. Coal City Coalers

The Sandwich Indians will venture away from home to take on the Coal City Coalers at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sandwich has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Coal City will arrive with three straight victories.

Sandwich saw some tournament action last Saturday. They took a 44-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Putnam County.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Coal City over Antioch in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Coal City enjoyed a cozy 51-36 win over Antioch.

Sandwich's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Coal City, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Sandwich strolled past Coal City in their previous matchup back in January of 2022 by a score of 46-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sandwich since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
