Softball Game Preview: Highlands Christian Knights vs. Pine Crest Panthers

Highlands Christian hasn't had much luck against Pine Crest recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Highlands Christian Knights will look to defend their home field against the Pine Crest Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Highlands Christian's offense. They lost 16-0 to Somerset Academy - Canyons on Tuesday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Pine Crest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Oxbridge Academy, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Pine Crest's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Highlands Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Highlands Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Pine Crest struggles in that department as they've averaged .690. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
