Soccer Game Preview: Massaponax vs. Riverside

The Massaponax Panthers will take on the Riverside Ram at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Riverside is facing Massaponax at the wrong time: Massaponax suffered their first home loss of the season two weeks ago and they're likely out for redemption. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Massaponax came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while North Stafford are ranked 124th).

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Riverside had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering Riverside have won ten games by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Riverside pushed their record up to 16-1-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those eight matches. As for Massaponax, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-3-1.
