Basketball Recap: Johnson Takes a Loss

After soaring to 67 points the game before, Johnson was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were outmatched by the Burbank Titans and fell 79-18. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1069th, while the Titans are ranked 385th).

It was another big night for Michael Butcher, who went 11 for 15 on his way to 27 points and eight steals for Burbank. Butcher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Cedric Sydnor was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Johnson has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Burbank, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7.

Johnson will take on Armijo at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Burbank, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-61 loss against Mountain House on the 1st.
