Baseball Recap: Walton-Verona's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Walton-Verona had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eminence Warriors a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Bearcats have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aidan Kerns made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Kerns was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Miles Lehmkuhl was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Dustin Wills was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Walton-Verona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 8-4. As for Eminence, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Walton-Verona Bearcats challenge Cooper Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eminence, they will welcome Bluegrass United at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
