The Capital Golden Eagles will take on the Sandy Pioneers in a tournament on Saturday. Capital is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

While Capital didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Reynolds 4-3.

Capital's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Myers, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Myers has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Sandy put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Borah get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Fisher Winchester's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Kobe Sparks was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Johnathin Silvis, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Sandy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Borah struck out seven times.

Sandy's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Capital, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
