Baseball Recap: Chippewa Takes a Loss

Chippewa had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 15-9 to make it five. They fell just short of the Northwestern Huskies by a score of 2-1. The Chipps were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

As for Northwestern, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-13. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch.

For Northwestern's part, David Mcie made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Mcie has become a key player for Northwestern: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-12 otherwise. Mcie was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grady Ellerbrock, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double.

While Chippewa had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
