Soccer Game Preview: Platteville vs. River Valley

For the first time this season, Platteville will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the River Valley Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Platteville is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They came up short against Belleville on Saturday, falling 6-1. Platteville have struggled against Belleville recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River Valley). Their defense stepped up to hand Richland Center a 5-0 shutout on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded River Valley with their most commanding win of the season.

Platteville suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to River Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Hillmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
