Basketball Recap: Tanner Takes a Loss

Tanner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles and fell 80-18. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while the Eagles are ranked 46th).

When it comes to explaining why Tanner lost, don't look at Aubrey Oliver. Despite the final result, she posted five points and four steals. Oliver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played.

Decatur Heritage Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leslie Hames, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 23 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Tyson, who scored 21 points.

Tanner's defeat dropped their record down to 3-22. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 21-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Tanner and Elkmont will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles challenge the Florence Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
