Recap: Marksville Tigers vs. Bunkie Panthers
The Marksville Tigers were the 53-34 winner over the Bunkie Panthers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Marksville suffered a tough 55-33 defeat at the hands of Bunkie on Friday.
Despite the loss, Marksville saw an underclassman step up: Laylla Dorsey scored 24 points along with two steals. That was a full 72.7% of Marksville's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Marksville's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Bunkie, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marksville will square off against Jena at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Jena is ranked 197th, while Marksville is ranked 184th). As for Bunkie, they will head out on the road to take on Bolton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
