A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Johnson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.
Johnson is returning to their home court after beating Clark on theirs, despite the fact Clark has dominated at home this season. Johnson skirted past Clark 50-47. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Johnson can attribute much of their success to Ahlias Isaac, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 14 points. That's the most points Isaac has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Ian Joshua, who put up nine points and five assists.
Meanwhile, O'Connor came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 54-46 victory over the Raiders. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Raiders are ranked 726th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Johnson better keep an eye on Hagen Hurst. He was instrumental in O'Connor's win, going 6-for-7 en route to 16 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. The game was Hurst's third in a row with at least 16 points. Evan Herrera was another key player, putting up ten points along with five assists and three steals.
Johnson's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points over those games. As for O'Connor, their victory bumped their record up to 20-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Johnson has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like O'Connor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
