Basketball Recap: Fossil Ridge Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Fossil Ridge extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were outmatched by the Highlands Ranch Falcons and fell 79-39. If the SaberCats were looking for revenge after losing 60-31 to the Falcons when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Fossil Ridge saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Marli Brenner posted eight points. Brenner has also also been stellar as far as three-point shooting accuracy is concerned: she's posted one of at least 50% every time she's hit the court this season.

As for Highlands Ranch, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 71.0 points this season.

Highlands Ranch was led to victory by Kimora Banks-Thomas and Katie Moon. Banks-Thomas scored 18 points along with six assists and six steals, while Moon shot 54% from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points. Kniyah Dumas was another key player, putting up nine points.

Fossil Ridge has already played their next matchup, a 53-49 loss against George Washington on the 9th. As for Highlands Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-49 defeat against Denver East on the 9th.
