Softball Game Preview: Hardin Valley Academy Hawks vs. William Blount Governors

Hardin Valley Academy is 2-8 against William Blount since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hardin Valley Academy Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the William Blount Governors at 5:30 p.m. Hardin Valley Academy has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Hardin Valley Academy is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Bearden, falling 14-5. One positive for the Hawks, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Addison Chamdler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Alex Souders, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, while William Blount put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Halls. William Blount skirted past Halls 1-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Governors.

The result came thanks to Katee Owens's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, William Blount saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Merriman, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

William Blount's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Hardin Valley Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Hardin Valley Academy suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to William Blount when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Hardin Valley Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
