Basketball Game Preview: Adamson Leopards vs. Hillcrest Panthers

Adamson is 1-7 against Hillcrest since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Adamson Leopards will venture away from home to challenge the Hillcrest Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Adamson is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They took a blow against Sunset, falling 70-11. While losing is never fun, the Leopards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1569th, while the Bison are ranked 777th).

Meanwhile, Hillcrest played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 73-32 defeat at the hands of White. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Longhorns recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Hillcrest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Clauriannys Berrios posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Berrios is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played.

Adamson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Hillcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Adamson was dealt a bruising 53-15 defeat at the hands of Hillcrest in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Adamson was down 35-6.
