Baseball Game Preview: Attica Red Ramblers vs. Lafayette Central Catholic Knights

Attica is 0-3 against Lafayette Central Catholic since April of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Red Ramblers will venture away from home to square off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Attica has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fountain Central hit Attica with a six-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Ramblers lost 11-1 to the Mustangs. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Red Ramblers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Attica saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Blankenship, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lafayette Central Catholic). They blew past Caston 24-7 on Tuesday. Considering the Knights have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lafayette Central Catholic pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Attica, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-1.

Attica might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Lafayette Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Red Ramblers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
