Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Cougars vs. Duluth East Greyhounds

The Centennial Cougars will face off against the Duluth East Greyhounds at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Centennial 3.7, Duluth East 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Centennial is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: Andover, who was ranked 13th at the time (Centennial was ranked 23rd). The Cougars lost 10-4 to the Huskies on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Duluth East, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Cambridge-Isanti a 2-0 shutout on Thursday.

Duluth East's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Centennial couldn't quite get it done against Duluth East in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
