Recap: Payson Longhorns vs. Snowflake Lobos
After flying high against the Crismon Rattlers last Wednesday, the Payson Longhorns came back down to earth. Payson fell just short of the Lobos by a score of 44-41. Payson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lobos apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Payson lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lizzy White, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine blocks. Another player making a difference was Hannah Sarnowski, who scored 15 points along with seven assists.
Payson struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Payson's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Snowflake, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Payson will head out on the road to challenge the Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Snowflake, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
