Softball Game Preview: Bernie Mules vs. Holcomb Hornets

The Bernie Mules will square off against the Holcomb Hornets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bernie will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against New Madrid County Central on Friday. The Mules were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mules have posted against the Eagles since April 13, 2018.

Meanwhile, Holcomb's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Senath-Hornersville get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory.

Holcomb has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Bernie, their victory bumped their record up to 23-8.

Bernie got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Holcomb by a conclusive 10-4 score. Do the Mules have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
