Tennessee high school football rankings: Maryville, McCallie and Alcoa maintain top spots

Brentwood Academy makes a move after big win over Brentwood.

The top three teams remain the same in this week's MaxPreps Tennessee high school football computer rankings. Top-ranked Maryville received a forfeit victory while No. 2 McCallie (Chattanooga) and third-ranked Alcoa each won by identical 55-0 scores as the second week of action featured few upsets.

Brentwood Academy is the lone new team in the Top 5 after a 34-14 win over No. 11 Brentwood. It was the first time these two cross-town rivals have met since 2002. Bragging rights belongs to the Eagles as of now.

Powell, now ranked No. 13, pulled off a comeback win to beat Anderson County (Clinton), 31-29. Jordyn Potts found J.J. Foust in the end zone with two minutes left to go to give the Panthers the lead for good. The incredible connection was featured as the top high school football play in the country (see video above).

Joining Tennessee's Top 25 this week is No. 21 Pope John Paul II (Hendersonville) and No. 24 Beech (Hendersonville).



How the Top 5 fared

* No. 1 Maryville (2-0) received a forfeit victory via Bearden (Knoxville).

* No. 2 McCallie (2-0) defeated Webb (Knoxville), 55-0.

* No. 3 Alcoa (2-0) defeated Austin-East (Knoxville), 55-0

* No. 4 Brentwood Academy (2-0) defeated Brentwood, 34-14

* No. 5 Pearl-Cohn (Nashville) (0-0) did not play.



Stat stars

Michael Dallas, Briarcrest Christian (Eads): Threw for 238 yards and four touchdowns and added 65 more rushing yards and another score in a 35-27 win over Houston (Germantown).

Aaron Smith, Jackson Christian (Jackson): Completed 18 of 21 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 135 yards and two more scores in a 70-34 win over Chester County (Henderson).

Kolbi Stewart Huntland: Rushed 14 times for 202 yards and five touchdowns, added nine tackles, a sack and an interception in a 48-27 win over Jo Byrns (Cedar Hill).

C.J. Taylor Warren County (McMinnville): Rushed 10 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns, completed 5 of 7 passes, had eight tackles, a sack, two fumble recoveries and two caused fumbles in a 48-0 win over Cannon County (Woodbury).

Sam Wolcott, Hickman County (Centerville): The junior free safety had six tackles, two interceptions and seven pass deflections in a 27-13 win over Harpeth.



Game of The Week

Phillip Page caught three touchdown passes from Jackson Jenkins, the final one with 25 seconds left, lifting Daniel Boone past four-time state champion Greeneville, 35-34 Friday at Burley Stadium.
