Baseball Recap: Simon Kenton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Simon Kenton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Conner Cougars on Thursday. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Cash Hoard looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Tyler Ruete was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last seven contests. Another player making a difference was Logan Judd, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Simon Kenton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Simon Kenton pushed their record up to 9-4-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Conner, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Simon Kenton will welcome Beechwood at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
