Football Recap: Jade Gentle and Natalie Williams Pace Mainland Defense

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mainland can now relate to. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 18-0 to the Lake Howell Silverhawks.

Mainland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jade Gentle and Natalie Williams.

Mainland has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Lake Howell, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Mainland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Howell, they will square off against Oviedo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Silverhawks 5.3, the Lions 1.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
