Football Recap: Williams Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Williams had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-7 to make it five. They had to suffer through a 49-21 loss at the hands of the Maxwell Panthers. The Yellowjackets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Williams lost, don't look at Ricardo Medina. Despite the final result, he rushed for 77 yards and one TD, and also picked up 36 receiving yards.

As for Maxwell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.8 points.

Erik New produced another solid effort rushing for 148 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. Levi Velasquez was another key player, rushing for 35 yards and one score.

Williams and Maxwell are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Yellowjackets will head out to take on Winters at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 9.5 points per game this season, so Williams' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Maxwell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
