Baseball Recap: West Point's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

West Point dropped their record down to 11-13-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 5-1 to the Tolleson Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 on Tuesday.

Kenyer Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Tolleson, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Tolleson's side, DIEGO SERNA spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. SERNA has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on JOSE CORRALES, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. OSCAR MOLINA also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Looking ahead, West Point will square off against Skyline at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Coyotes have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Tolleson, they will challenge Mesa at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
