Football Game Preview: Loyd Star Hornets vs. Crystal Springs Tigers

The Loyd Star Hornets will face off against the Crystal Springs Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Loyd Star has four straight wins, Crystal Springs has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, Loyd Star took their game with ease, bagging a 35-7 victory over Bogue Chitto. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Jordyn Kees, who rushed for 284 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Those 284 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Kees was just one part of a punishing run game: Loyd Star was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 400 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 256 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Crystal Springs fell victim to East Marion and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Eagles 38-0.

Loyd Star's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Crystal Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
