Baseball Game Preview: Center Line Panthers vs. Sterling Heights Stallions

Center Line is 7-1 against Sterling Heights since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stallions at 5:00 p.m. Center Line will be strutting in after a victory while Sterling Heights will be coming in after a loss.

Center Line barely beat Clintondale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Dragons a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 15 runs or more this season.

Cruz Santiago made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Center Line is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Santiago was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Fenger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Center Line: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Sterling Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 13-2 to Clawson.

Center Line's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Sterling Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Center Line was able to grind out a solid victory over Sterling Heights when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 9-4. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Stallions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
