Baseball Game Preview: Woodcreek Timberwolves vs. Oakmont Vikings

The Woodcreek Timberwolves will face off against the Oakmont Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Woodcreek is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Del Oro.

Bryson Ruiz looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Aaron Palmer was excellent, going 1-for-2 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Oakmont entered their tilt with Whitney on Tuesday with five consecutive wins dating back to last season, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Wildcats.

CJ Smith looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cooper Kunis, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Ogles, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
