Softball Recap: Daniel Comes Up Short

Daniel was the 7-2 winner over Walhalla when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions fell 12-9 to the Razorbacks on Wednesday.

Bryn Chasteen was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Maria Bowers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Daniel has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. Walhalla's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Daniel will square off against Blue Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Walhalla, they will venture away from home to challenge Belton-Honea Path at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Razorbacks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
