Basketball Preview: King's Academy Lions vs. Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves
King's Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves at TBD on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, King's Academy gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Berean Christian 65-37 at home. Given King's Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 614th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reggie Workman was his usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew del Valle, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Oxbridge Academy has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 50-40 victory over Spanish River on Wednesday.
King's Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. As for Oxbridge Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-16.
Everything went King's Academy's way against the ThunderWolves in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the Lions made off with a 74-53 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for King's Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
