Recap: Walker Wolverines vs. Therrell Panthers

The Walker Wolverines waltzed into their matchup Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 64-53 victory over Therrell. Given Walker's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Therrell is ranked 417th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Walker got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Moustapha Diop out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Diop has scored at least 25% of Walker's points. Noah Pederson was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morion Mcwhorter, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Mcwhorter set a new season high mark in steals with three. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Taylor, who scored 19 points along with five assists and three steals.
Walker pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Therrell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walker won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Washington at 3:00 p.m. on December 9th. Washington is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Therrell won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Business Engineering Science Tech at 4:00 p.m. on December 9th. Business Engineering Science Tech comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
