Softball Recap: Collinsville Takes a Loss

Collinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 16-12 to the Tom Bean Tomcats. Even if the Pirates couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Rilee Stewart led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Tessa Vannoy was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Even though they lost, Collinsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .487. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Collinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Tom Bean, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Collinsville will look to defend their home field on Monday against Honey Grove at 11:00 a.m. Collinsville has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Tom Bean will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Collinsville at 5:30 p.m. on March 21st.
