Basketball Recap: Newton Comes Up Short

Newton has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 75-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laurel Golden Tornadoes on Saturday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Tornadoes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Laurel, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.

Newton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-50 loss against Newton County on the 20th. Laurel has also already played their next contest, a 70-62 win against Bay Springs on the 20th.
