Huntingdon is a perfect 4-0 against Bellwood-Antis since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bearcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Huntingdon is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Huntingdon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt West Branch on Friday. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 13-3 win. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Luke Mykut spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Huntingdon got a massive performance out of Ethan Reck, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Matthew Gutshall also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Huntingdon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in four consecutive games.
Bellwood-Antis came out on top against Greater Johnstown on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Blue Devils' pitchers stepped up to hand the Trojans a 9-0 shutout. Nine seems to be a good number for the Blue Devils as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Landon Sneath was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Cam Swogger was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Huntingdon's record now sits at 11-5. As for Bellwood-Antis, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Bellwood-Antis' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Huntingdon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bellwood-Antis, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Huntingdon keep running through batters, or will the Blue Devils buck the trend?
Everything went Huntingdon's way against Bellwood-Antis when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Huntingdon made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
