Preview: Bastrop Bears vs. Liberty Hill Panthers
The Bastrop Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Liberty Hill Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Bastrop came up short against Lockhart and fell 28-17. Bastrop has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Bastrop had strong showings from Keyshon Moore, who rushed for 157 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and Ladainian Merino, who rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown. Moore was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.
Meanwhile, Liberty Hill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it three two weeks ago. They took down Lockhart 56-41. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Liberty Hill got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ben Carter out in front who rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Pitchford, who gained 165 total yards and two touchdowns.
Bastrop's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Liberty Hill, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3.
Bastrop was dealt a bruising 61-7 loss at the hands of Liberty Hill when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Bastrop have more luck at home instead of on the road?
