Baseball Recap: Highland Rams vs. Century Diamondbacks
In what's become a running theme this season, Highland gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. Everything went their way against the Century Diamondbacks as the Highland Rams made off with a 14-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Highland also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.
Colton Durham made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Durham was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
In other pitching news, Jackson Hale looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (he also only allowed one walk).
Back at the plate, Preston Foltz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. Taylor Stringfellow was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
On Century's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hyrum Curtis, who went 2-for-2 with two doubles.
Even though they lost, Century was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with three doubles. That's the most doubles they've managed all season.
The win made it two in a row for Highland and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Century, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Madison at 3:00 p.m. Highland is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Century, they will head out on the road to take on Burley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Century is facing Burley at the right time seeing as Burley is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
