A feisty cat fight will be fought as Redding Christian Lions duke it out with University Prep Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Redding Christian turned things around against Trinity on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 8-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Garrett Webb was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Redding Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise. Webb was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaleb Armstrong-Higgins, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Caleb Zick was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, University Prep got the win against Las Plumas on Wednesday by a conclusive 7-1. Considering the Panthers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Redding Christian, University Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Casey Wrathall. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Wrathall a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, University Prep let Kaos Martin and David Wenham run wild. Martin scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Wenham scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Luca Snell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
University Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Las Plumas only posted a batting average of .200.
University Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. The win got Redding Christian back to even at 3-3.
