Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Mountain Vista's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Mountain Vista unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to the Highlands Ranch Falcons at home by a 67-52 margin. If the Golden Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 84-58 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mountain Vista lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kennedy Spellman, who posted 15 points and five boards. The game was Spellman's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Kiarra Spellman was another key player, putting up 16 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mountain Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Highlands Ranch's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ezra Simonich, who had 15 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Moon, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 17 points.

Mountain Vista's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-5. As for Highlands Ranch, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Mountain Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-23 victory against Douglas County on the 31st. Highlands Ranch has also already played their next game, an 81-24 win against Ponderosa on the 31st.
