Softball Game Preview: Stoughton Vikings vs. Mount Horeb Vikings

Stoughton hasn't had much luck against Mount Horeb recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Stoughton will host Mount Horeb at 5:00 p.m.

Stoughton is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Baraboo. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings have suffered since April 8th.

Camille Buell and Chloe Buell did some serious damage despite the final result: Camille went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run, while Chloe went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mount Horeb had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Beavers.

Ruby Dahlk and Lauren Mester did most of the damage at the plate: Dahlk went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Mester went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits Dahlk has posted since back in April.

Mount Horeb hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Mount Horeb's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Stoughton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.
