Baseball Recap: Fairview Sets Scoring Season-High Against Niwot

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairview). They walked away with a 14-9 win over the Niwot Cougars on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Oliver Peterson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fairview is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Fairview got a big performance out of Jackson Wier, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Wier has become a key player for the Knights: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Colin Potter also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Fairview's record now sits at 8-6. As for Niwot, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairview will square off against Legacy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lightning will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Niwot, they will take on Wheat Ridge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Farmers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.54 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
