Softball Recap: Southeastern Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southeastern had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They beat the Ranburne Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. Considering the Mustangs have won ten contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Emellie Hamilton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Reese Hall and Liliana Cassidy did most of the damage at the plate: Hall went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Cassidy went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Hall a new career-high. Bella Kelley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Southeastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ranburne only posted an OBP of .158.

Southeastern has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ranburne, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-15.

Ranburne didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-3 win against Vincent on the 29th. Hopefully Southeastern paid attention to the Bulldogs' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
