Softball Recap: Southside Sets Scoring Season-High Against Gadsden City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southside). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gadsden City Titans a 21-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Panthers have beaten the Titans the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Titans has come to flipping the script.

The team relied heavily on Lauren Mckee, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, six RBI, and two triples. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. Bailey Houston was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Southside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win got Southside back to even at 7-7. As for Gadsden City, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Southside will welcome Hokes Bluff at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Gadsden City, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Payne at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Fort Payne will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Gadsden City surely won't give up without a fight.
